Information Support Pharmacist, RxFiles Academic Detailing, Pharmacy & Nutrition
RxFiles is Saskatchewans academic detailing service based in the University of Saskatchewans College of Pharmacy and Nutrition.
RxFiles provides objective, evidence-informed drug information to support optimal prescribing and patient care.
The work of RxFiles translates clinical evidence and real-world experience into practical tools used by healthcare professionals, including drug comparison charts, educational materials, and academic detailing sessions.
Primary Purpose To develop, maintain, and synthesize evidence-based drug information resources that support optimal prescribing and patient care, primarily through the creation of high-quality drug comparison charts and clinical tools.
Nature of Work This position reports to the Chief Editor for core content development and works collaboratively with the Director on broader responsibilities and workload planning.
The role is based in an in-person office environment within the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition at the University of Saskatchewan.
The Information Support Pharmacist operates with a high degree of independence and professional judgment, particularly in conducting literature reviews, critically appraising medical evidence, and synthesizing complex information into practical clinical resources.
Decision-making involves interpreting evolving scientific evidence, ensuring content accuracy and balance, and determining the appropriate inclusion in RxFiles materials.
The work is project-based with multiple concurrent deadlines, requiring strong organizational and time-management skills.
Publication timelines, content updates, and emerging clinical evidence drive work cycles.
Collaboration with subject matter experts and participation in team meetings are essential components.
Occasional outreach activities, such as conference participation, may be required.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities Develop, update, and maintain drug comparison charts to ensure accuracy, clarity, and clinical relevance.
Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and critically appraise medical and scientific evidence.
Synthesize complex data into concise, practical, and evidence-informed clinical content.
Collaborate with internal and external content experts to validate and enhance materials.
Review and incorporate recent evidence to support ongoing updates of RxFiles resources.
Manage multiple content development projects, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
Contribute to the development of additional clinical tools, including Q&A; documents and trial summaries.
Review and provide input on academic detailing and educational materials.
Participate in team meetings, including writers meetings, to support content development and planning.
Support outreach and knowledge translation activities, including conference participation as required.
Expected Outcomes (Accountabilities) Production of high-quality, accurate, and up-to-date drug comparison charts and clinical materials.
Development of well-referenced resources that support clinician decision-making and follow-up inquiries.
Effective independent project management with consistent on-time delivery.
Maintenance of strong collaborative relationships with clinicians, researchers, and stakeholders.
Contribution to the ongoing credibility and impact of RxFiles as a trusted source of evidence-based drug information.
Education Bachelors degree in pharmacy. Training in evidence-based medicine is an asset.
Licenses Licensed (or eligible to be licensed) in Saskatchewan.
Experience Minimum 6 years of pharmacy experience. Experience in research, epidemiology, or knowledge translation is an asset.
Skills Strong critical appraisal and evidence synthesis skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
Experience with writing, editing, or publishing.
Ability to present balanced perspectives on complex or controversial issues.
Proficiency with MS Office applications.
