Key Responsibilities:
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using standardized techniques for patients of all ages.
Verify patient identity and maintain accurate records of specimens, labels, and test requisitions.
Adhere to strict infection control and safety protocols, including proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
Prepare and package blood samples for laboratory analysis, ensuring timely delivery and integrity of specimens.
Assist in maintaining inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment, reporting shortages or malfunctions promptly.
Provide clear, empathetic communication to patients, addressing concerns and ensuring a comfortable experience.
Collaborate with nurses, lab technicians, and other healthcare staff to prioritize urgent requests.
Follow all regulatory and organizational compliance standards, including HIPAA and local healthcare guidelines.
Technical Requirements:
Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent from an accredited program (e.g., NHA, ASCP).Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in phlebotomy, preferably in a hospital or diagnostic lab setting.
Proven ability to perform 50+ successful venipunctures daily with minimal errors or complications.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and laboratory procedures.
Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail in high-pressure situations.
Ability to work rotating shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
