Manage and maintain accurate health records and information systems to support patient care and reporting. Ensure confidentiality, compliance with applicable legislation, and effective information flow across clinical and administrative teams.

Main Duties
  • Collect, organize, and maintain patient health records in electronic and paper formats.
  • Assign diagnostic and procedure codes and ensure accuracy of coding for clinical, administrative, and billing purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy, access, and release-of-information policies and applicable legislation.
  • Perform data quality audits, reconcile records, and correct discrepancies to maintain information integrity.
  • Prepare statistical reports, information extracts, and summaries for clinical, administrative, and regulatory use.
  • Provide training and support to clinical and administrative staff on health information systems and record-keeping procedures.
Requirements
  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in health information management, health information science, medical records, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems and health information databases.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical documentation practices, and diagnostic/procedure coding standards (e.g., ICD-10).
  • Understanding of privacy legislation and information governance principles applicable to health records.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with clinical and administrative teams.
