The Role

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a passionate Specialist Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Services team and help deliver exceptional patient care across our services. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside multidisciplinary teams, using your specialist knowledge to optimise medicines use, improve patient outcomes and influence prescribing practice.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital

Monday to Friday, with participation in weekend, public holiday, extended hours, and on‑call rotas as required

Full-time, permanent

Key Responsibilities

Deliver specialist pharmaceutical care to patients within designated clinical areas and specialties

Provide expert medicines advice to healthcare professionals, patients and carers

Support safe, effective and cost‑efficient prescribing in line with local and national guidance

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, ward rounds and discharge planning activities

Contribute to clinical audit, research projects and service improvement initiatives

Supervise, educate and support pharmacy staff, trainees and other healthcare professionals

Identify, assess and manage medicines‑related risks to promote patient safety and quality of care

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

Master's Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent qualification

Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council

Demonstrable post‑registration experience delivering clinical pharmacy services

Strong knowledge of medicines legislation, pharmaceutical care and clinical pharmacy practice

Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with the ability to influence clinical decision making

Ability to analyse complex information and apply sound clinical judgement to improve patient outcomes

Strong organisational, IT and numeracy skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively in a busy healthcare environment
