Building Operator

Sask Tel Centre is Saskatoon's premier sports and entertainment venue, providing world-class event experiences for the social and cultural enrichment of our community. We pride ourselves on delivering top-notch service and experiences to our clients, and we are looking for a Building Operator to join our dedicated team.

If you love fixing things, keeping systems humming, and takes pride in a clean, safe, well‑run building, then this is the place for you. The Building Operator will help operate and maintain key building systems (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and automation) as well as support the team responsible for custodial services.

Duties include:

• Perform and track preventive maintenance and service requests using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS-SAP, etc.).
• Troubleshoot and repair building structures, fixtures, and equipment-prioritizing issues based on safety and operational impact.
• Support moves and setups by assisting with relocation, installation, and setup of fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
• Direct and inspect the work of assigned staff and contractors to ensure tasks are completed in accordance with service standards and operational priorities
• Ensure the effective cleaning and upkeep of building interiors, exteriors, surrounding grounds, and walkways, maintaining cleanliness, safety, and appearance standards.

What you will bring to the team:

• Strong working knowledge of building systems (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, life-safety, and building automation), including preventive and corrective maintenance methods, materials, tools, and equipment
• Knowledge of the materials, practices, and equipment used in custodial and maintenance work.
• Working knowledge of custodial operations.
• Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of assigned staff.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills (oral and written).
• Technical skill in operating and performing basic troubleshooting of building control and automation systems.
• Physical capability to perform the assigned duties

Education, Training and Experience Requirements:

• Grade 12.
• Two (2) year post-secondary diploma for Power Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• Valid Fourth-Class Power Engineer's License with TSASK.
• Valid Refrigeration Engineer's License with TSASK.
• Possession of or ability to obtain BOMI Systems Maintenance Certificate (SMC).
• Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in mechanical, public assemblyfacility, or building systems maintenance and operation, plus minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience.
• Possession of or ability to obtain First Aid/CPR C/AED certificates.
• Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence and a current driver's abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.

Hours of Work:

• Shift work and weekend work may be involved
• Participation in an on‑call rotation is required
