Maintenance Custodian

POSITION TITLE:

Maintenance Custodian - Permanent - 40 hours per week

This position is responsible for the cleaning and general maintenance of schools and adjacent grounds to keep schools safe and well maintained. This includes maintaining cleanliness, minor repairs and snow clearing. This position is also responsible for keeping all building components in good condition through preventative maintenance and reporting all damage or breakdown in heating, plumbing, ventilation, electrical or hardware components requiring Central Office staff or outside contractors to correct.

Heavy lifting may be required.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Knowledge of cleaning procedures, materials and equipment.

• Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Material Information System.

• Physical abilities consistent with requirements of the job.

• The ability to work as a team player and independently.

• The completion of trades-related courses would be considered an asset.

• Knowledge of the function and use of security, energy management, life safety, fire alarm, and audio systems would be considered an asset.

• Have a working knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical systems, gas systems, plumbing, heating, ventilation, etc.

• Must obtain and retain a valid certificate of conduct.

• Reliable transportation.

CUPE 1560 Salary Scale (CG-22): $22.05 - $24.19 per hour, plus applicable shift diff
