Belle Pulses Ltd is a leading agricultural seed processor that has been in business for over 40 years. We process, split and mill field peas and export globally. We take a great deal of pride in the quality of our products and the relationships we have with our customers, producers and employees. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Plant Manager for our Duck Lake, SK Location.
Position OverviewThe Plant Manager is responsible for the overall operations, safety, and productivity of the plant. This leadership role ensures efficient grain processing, bagging and milling, maintains high standards for product quality, and oversees a diverse team. The manager will champion continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction, supporting the facility's role in the Canadian agri-food sector.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily operations of the grain processing, bagging and milling facility, ensuring efficient workflow, shipping and optimal resource use.
- Lead, train, and supervise plant staff, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and high performance.
- Monitor production schedules to meet customer orders and delivery deadlines.
- Implement and enforce workplace safety standards, including WHMIS and HACCP protocols.
- Manage inventory of raw grain, packaging, and finished goods; coordinate logistics for receiving and shipping.
- Oversee daily quality control processes and ensure compliance with SOP/GOP, food safety regulations and Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain competitiveness.
- Post-secondary education in agriculture, food science, engineering, business administration, or a related field world be an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in grain processing, milling, or food manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Knowledge of Canadian food safety and workplace safety regulations.
- Experience with production planning, inventory management, and process improvement.
- Proficiency in common software applications (e.g., MS Office, ERP systems).
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed, including some weekends or evenings during peak periods.
- Plant environment with exposure to dust, noise, and machinery.
- Standing and walking for extended periods; occasional lifting (up to 25 kg/55 lbs).
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
