Silo Supervisor

The Boortmalt Group is a fully owned subsidiary of the agricultural and agribusiness cooperative Axereal. Our relationship with Axereal, Europe's largest grain cooperative, ensures us access to high-quality barley year-round.
We are hiring a Silo Supervisor to manage daily grain and malt silo operations.
This role ensures the safe, efficient, and high‑quality handling of raw materials, supporting continuous production and delivery.
Your responsibilities include:
- Grain & malt handling:
You ensure grain and malt are received, stored and moved correctly, following safety and quality standards. - Food safety & quality:
You follow HACCP, GMP and company rules, and check regularly that everything meets these standards. - Blending accuracy:
You oversee the blending process and make sure it matches production needs and quality targets. - Silo level management:
You monitor stock levels and coordinate with production and logistics to keep materials available on time. - Operational efficiency:
You look for improvements to keep operations running smoothly, reduce downtime and avoid waste. - Team leadership:
You lead, train and support the silo team. You organise shifts and ensure safe and efficient work. - Maintenance coordination:
You work with maintenance teams to keep equipment in good condition. - Reporting:
You keep records up to date (stock, blending, safety checks, incidents) and report to management.
Our ideal candidate has the following experience and skills:
- Proven experience in silo operations, grain handling, or a related field (2+ years preferred)
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and quality control procedures
- Leadership experience with the ability to train and motivate teams, experience in a unionised setting is an asset
- Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills. Proficiency in using silo monitoring systems and inventory management tools
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Must be able to work in environments with variable temperatures, including partial outdoor work and dusty conditions
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Requires Near/Far, Depth and Colour vision
