As a Mechanical Engineering Technologist
, you’ll work directly alongside an experienced industry professional, helping transform customer requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions. You’ll collaborate with sales, production, and leadership teams while gaining hands‑on exposure to design, manufacturing, purchasing, and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineering Technologist, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:

1. Design & Product Development
  • Modify and update existing product designs to meet customer‑specific requirements.
  • Create and revise 3D models and production drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Prepare customer approval drawings and detailed shop drawings for manufacturing.
  • Support sales with custom product solutions, estimates, and technical information.
  • Maintain current drawing files and manage design revisions.
  • Collaborate with production teams to improve manufacturability and product performance.
  • Assist with the development of new products and design enhancements.
2. Manufacturing & Production Support
  • Work closely with production personnel to ensure drawings are accurate and practical.
  • Support CNC plasma cutting, forming, welding, and fabrication processes.
  • Assist with CNC programming and file preparation.
  • Help identify opportunities to simplify assemblies and improve production efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and recommend practical solutions.
3. ERP, Documentation & Data Management
  • Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), routers, and item data within Fusion West’s systems.
  • Enter new products and revisions into ERP systems.
  • Manage product documentation and engineering records.
  • Maintain accurate pricing, revision histories, and production data.
4. Material Planning & Purchasing Support
  • Prepare material take‑offs and production forecasts.
  • Assist with inventory management and material planning activities.
  • Support vendor communications and purchasing activities.
  • Help ensure adequate inventory levels for production requirements.
  • Participate in inventory counts and inventory control processes.
5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with sales, production, and management teams to deliver customer‑focused solutions.
