Community Outreach Coordinator
Job Description
YWCA NWT is looking for a compassionate, self‑driven and community‑oriented individual to fill the role of Community Outreach Coordinator. The coordinator will oversee the Safe Homes Pilot project in three NWT communities and YWCA NWT advocacy and outreach initiatives. The focus of this role is to expand partnership and networking opportunities to advance gender equity in the NWT and improve awareness of women’s issues relating to violence, abuse and poverty and to effectively advocate for positive change across the territory.
Responsibilities- Oversee the Safe Homes Pilot project in three NWT communities.
- Advise and execute YWCA NWT advocacy and outreach initiatives.
- Expand partnership and networking opportunities to advance gender equity in the NWT.
- Improve awareness of women’s issues relating to violence, abuse and poverty across the territory.
- Effectively advocate for positive change across the territory.
- Experience facilitating community meetings.
- Good research skills and ability to summarize research findings.
- Experience working with women who have experienced violence and/or poverty.
- Knowledge of issues facing northern women and communities.
- Self‑driven and community‑oriented.
Location:
Anywhere in the Northwest Territories (includes travel to other NWT communities). Term:
One (1) year, full‑time, 40 hours weekly with possibility of an extension.
