Position Title
Ambulatory Clinic LPN - Family Medicine – Arbor Creek Medical Pavilion

Position Summary
The ambulatory clinic licensed practical nurse (LPN) utilizes the nursing process to coordinate an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. The LPN promotes and restores patient health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and team members, and providing physical and psychological support to patients and families. Practices are within the boundaries of the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, specialty standards and organizational/departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities And Essential Job Functions

Greets patients and prepares them for examination or procedure; records health history and notes abnormal conditions for physician; obtains vital signs and performs required screens.

Accurately and safely administers intramuscular, subcutaneous, and oral medication as ordered, observing and reporting patients’ condition and reactions.

Assists with preparation of supplies and equipment and aids the physician or advanced practice provider during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.

Ensures patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely manner and forwards charts as appropriate.

Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments, arranging referrals to specialists and obtaining pre‑authorizations as directed by provider.

Collects, documents, and delivers lab specimens; obtains lab results and other reports and enters EMR if needed.

Notifies patients of test results and follow‑up appointments; refers to RN/MD for patient education.

Reviews medications, treatment, and after‑visit instructions with patient/family.

Responds to and screens telephone calls for referral to RN or physician.

Coordinates pre‑visit planning by reviewing the EMR, including patient history, and proactively orders labs and tests based on approved clinic protocols.

Completes necessary forms (e.g., FMLA, DME, Home Health orders) and obtains physician signatures as appropriate.

Performs the professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Other duties may be assigned as required.

Required Education And Experience

Licensed Practical Nurse graduation from an accredited licensed practical nurse program.

High School graduate or GED.

Preferred Education And Experience

Previous medical office experience.

Required Licensure And Certification

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) – American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Multi‑State;
State Board of Nursing in Kansas and/or Missouri depending on work location; must be in good standing in the state where you live. Staff hired prior to 2/1/2024 are required to obtain a multistate LPN license from the state in which they live by 3/31/2026.

Knowledge Requirements

Basic computer skills required.

Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
