The Shift Supervisor must demonstrate strong situational awareness and composure while overseeing metal detector screening, access control, and visitor interactions in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.
As patient volumes, visitor flow, and special circumstances fluctuate throughout the day, the supervisor is expected to adjust screening procedures with precision, ensuring team alignment while maintaining safety, dignity, and compliance with hospital protocols. Clear communication, sound judgment, and a customer‑service‑focused leadership approach are essential to ensuring a secure and welcoming hospital entrance at all times.

- Lead and supervise a medium‑size team of 5–10 security guards per shift at metal detector screening checkpoints
- Monitor team performance and ensure adherence to hospital security protocols and Garda World standards
- Operate walk‑through and handheld metal detection equipment in compliance with hospital policies
- Oversee access control, identity verification, and screening of patients, visitors, staff, and contractors in a professional, non‑confrontational manner
- Maintain a calm, supportive presence during high‑stress situations and emergency periods
- Provide coaching, guidance, and real‑time direction to guards on shift
- Liaise with hospital staff, clinical teams, and security leadership on incidents or operational concerns
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and hospital access control procedures
- Prepare and review incident reports and daily activity reports
- Collaborate with emergency responders and authorities during serious incidents
- Authorized to work in Canada
- Clean criminal background check
- Saskatchewan Security Guard Training (Garda World can assist with certification)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience leading teams or acting in a supervisory/lead role (security or customer‑facing environment)
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- First Aid/CPR certification (asset)
- Ability to think quickly, adapt to changing situations, and make sound decisions
