Haven Family Connections strives to provide preventative support to families who are at‑risk of losing custody of their children. We work from a family‑centered, harm reduction perspective that prioritizes the parent/child relationship and recognizes the impact of historic trauma on families.

The Haven Family Support program is an in‑home support program for families who are struggling to overcome barriers to their success. We seek to support parents through increasing parenting skills and advocacy in order to reduce family breakup. We are currently seeking one temporary full‑time Family Support worker (12‑month contract beginning around May 10th, 2026, for maternity leave coverage). Family Support workers are responsible for providing education, guidance, coaching, and skill development to parents through regular home visits.

The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge in child development, non‑physical discipline, harm reduction, and trauma‑informed care. This position requires exceptional communication skills, and demonstrated ability in case documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years post‑secondary education in a related field

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Competency in computer skills

Familiarity with systemic barriers faced by vulnerable families

Knowledge of and belief in harm reduction philosophies

Knowledge of positive parenting theory

Frontline experience working with vulnerable families or children

Availability Monday‑Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM and permission to use a personal vehicle is required. Criminal Record Check for the vulnerable sector is required.
