As a Housing Focused Shelter Worker, you will work on-site to assist individuals overcoming trauma and housing barriers. You will connect clients with available resources, conduct case management, and engage in meaningful conversations, addressing conflicts and mental health concerns.
Your role is vital in fostering a safe environment that promotes dignity and respect for all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide first contact support for shelter guests
• Respond to crises and use de-escalation techniques
• Enforce shelter rules and maintain cleanliness
• Assist with daily meal programs and laundry
• Conduct housing-focused case management intake
Requirements:
• 1 year of experience with marginalized populations
• Diploma in Human Services or Social Work preferred
• Strong conflict resolution and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure
• Knowledge of Indigenous communities considered an asset
