Job Overview Position: Money Management Caseworker
Purpose:
Provide casework support to individuals on the Budget Management Program, developing independent money management skills.
Responsibilities Casework: Work one‑on‑one with clients in an office setting and provide group support and workshops.
Assign caseload based on Ministry of Social Services Tier One Trustee clients.
Complete client intakes and discharges, maintain case files with required documentation.
Prepare monthly budget plans in cooperation with clients, assist with income assistance benefits.
Conduct individual sessions, keep session records, coordinate with Social Workers.
Maintain regular communication with clients to monitor budget and build life skills.
Connect clients with internal and external agencies, provide best possible care.
Maintain accurate, comprehensive file records of income and expenses.
Prepare necessary forms for clients (OAP, CPP Benefits, etc.).
Participate in cheque distribution, bill preparation, and personal allotments.
Maintain client management database and prepare relevant seminars or group education opportunities.
Assist clients with accommodations, food, creditor mediation related to financial health.
Participate in staff meetings and strategic planning to align programming with client needs.
Connect clients to Salvation Army supports (Pathways of Hope Worker, Addictions Counsellor, Pastor).
Help clients address barriers to money management (social, mental, physical, spiritual wellbeing).
Uphold the mission and values of The Salvation Army in all tasks.
Administration: Complete monthly spreadsheets to track client progress.
Maintain detailed case notes and assist in accurate client budgeting.
Monitor and maintain client expenditures, enforce internal controls.
Assist in preparing cheque requests and email to THQ.
Perform administrative duties: answering phones, greeting clients, payables/receivables, data management.
Coordinate with front desk staff for cheque distribution and client support.
Track statistical information as required.
Relationships and Leadership Reports Directly To: Executive Director/Corps Officer
Internal: Provincial Money Management Supervisor, Ministry Unit Staff
External: Clients and families, government agencies, local community support services
Coordinate cross‑department work to ensure comprehensive services for clients.
Working Conditions Work primarily in office environments, social service centres, or corps settings.
Supports diverse community members.
Infrequent local travel between ministry units and community service provider locations.
Direct service to community, deadlines aligned with The Salvation Army’s mission and values.
Qualifications
Education:
Completion of a formal post‑secondary/college program of at least two academic years.
Experience:
2‑3 years of related experience in social services/mental health setting.
Experience in program facilitation, administrative duties, and program development.
Experience performing administrative tasks; community development experience is an asset.
Current First Aid/CPR certification.
Valid Criminal Record and Vulnerable Services Check.
Driver’s License and clean abstract.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom.

Compensation & Benefits Target salary: $21.96 to $27.45 per hour, up to $32.94 max.
