Culturally Grounded Parent Support Worker

Support the Kahkewistahaw First Nation as a Culturally Grounded Parent Support Worker. Provide families with trauma-informed assistance, focus on enhancing parent-child relationships, and uphold traditional practices.

This role involves engaging with families through home visits and workshops. You'll collaborate with community elders and social services to confront challenges like intergenerational trauma and promote holistic family wellness. Your work will integrate indigenous knowledge with conventional social services to empower families to maintain their identity while fostering healing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Offer trauma-informed support to families in need

• Conduct home visits to enhance family connections

• Facilitate workshops on traditional parenting methodologies

• Partner with community elders for resource guidance

• Address child welfare and trauma challenges effectively

Requirements:

• Experience in social work or family support roles
