Principal Software Developer – Admin Access and Insights Team
Position OverviewAutodesk is looking for a Principal Software Developer to join its Admin Access and Insights Team within the Autodesk Platform Services organization. The team focuses on improving experiences for user, project, and developer administrators through AI‑driven solutions and expanding capabilities across new products. The role is hybrid in Toronto, reporting to the Manager, Software Development Manager (Canada). It offers an opportunity to contribute to an agile environment and advance the engineering discipline.
Responsibilities- Lead cross‑team projects and high‑stakes initiatives.
- Align teamwork with business goals and design next‑generation solutions with architects.
- Influence teams outside the direct organization and demonstrate impact.
- Guide and remove obstacles for the team and broader colleagues.
- Clarify requirements, plan, execute scope and monitor quality for projects with unclear milestones.
- Lead or participate in transformative initiatives within Autodesk Platform Services.
- Own platform capabilities across Engineering Practices, Solutions, Quality, Deployment and Support.
- Drive improvements in engineering practices and quality; support team members.
- Lead incident calls, investigate and resolve issues, and implement follow‑up improvements.
- Mentor and share knowledge with team members.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
- 8+ years of software design and development experience.
- Lead position on delivery of a commercial cloud product.
- Experience leading incident response and root‑cause analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to lead technical discussions.
- Strong understanding of business drivers.
- Proven mentorship and talent development.
- Hands‑on Java programming; exposure to Spring Boot.
- Experience with SDLC, Agile, CI/CD, Jenkins.
- Cloud experience: AWS or other provider.
- API development experience (REST, Graph
QL, gRPC). - Programming skills in Go or Type Script.
- Expertise in OOP design patterns.
- Database design principles at cloud scale.
- Design and optimization of scalable systems in the cloud.
- Full‑stack development experience (plus).
- Experience with MCP server implementations and client integrations (plus).
