Job Description & How to Apply Below
Overview
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. The Continuous Delivery team works within Developer Productivity to build and improve platforms, workflows, and guardrails that help engineers ship code quickly, safely, and with confidence.
Responsibilities
Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team, guiding engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems and ensuring team members are supported throughout delivery.
Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to participate in ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on decisions that balance risks and trade‑offs.
Proactively identify project, process, technology, or business issues, advocate for them, and lead in solving them.
Support the operations and availability of the team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and contributing to “keep the lights on” on‑call efforts.
Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for these practices beyond the team through writing and tech talks.
Help develop talent on the team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.
Qualifications
4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
Experience building or evolving CI/CD, deployment, or release automation systems that reduce manual toil and improve rollout predictability, recovery, and auditability across many engineering teams.
Comfortable working on shared developer infrastructure and defining clear platform interfaces, templates, or guardrails that enable product teams to adopt standard deployment patterns with confidence.
Proficient at defining a technical plan for delivering significant features or system components with an elegant, simple, and extensible design; write high‑quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
Skill in making substantial changes in large code bases, having developed a suite of tools and practices that enable safe modifications.
Demonstrated ownership of personal growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.
Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
