Energetics Technician Specialist
Battelle is currently seeking an Energetics Technician Specialist located at Tyndall AFB. This full‑time position supports highly technical experiments on energetic materials including explosives, gun propellants, pyrotechnics, and combustibles. The role includes preparation, testing, and limited analysis of new or existing energetic materials to identify their properties for development or improvement, and direct responsibility for energetic material handling and storage operations.
Job SummaryThe Energetics Technician Specialist performs complex tasks under minimal supervision, providing input and recommendations on project work, resource planning, and technical planning. Responsibilities include reporting observations, troubleshooting, and executing moderately complex analysis to confirm accuracy and applicability of project data.
Responsibilities- Apply job skills and policies to complete a wide range of routine and non‑routine tasks; provide input into reports and letters for Project Managers.
- Work on complex assignments requiring judgment, creativity, and initiative to assess problems and make recommendations.
- Provide input to Project Managers on time and staff resources, train less experienced staff, and help with performance reviews.
- Perform moderately complex analysis for accuracy, recommend cost controls, and contribute to technical planning.
- Complete complex tasks under minimal supervision and report findings clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrate problem‑solving ability and technical knowledge.
- High School Diploma.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Minimum 7 years’ work experience.
- U.S. Citizen.
- Ability to obtain a government security clearance post‑hire.
- Medical fitness to work in laboratory and field environments, including test chambers, ranges, munitions bunkers, and field settings.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to wear an SCBA (self‑contained breathing apparatus).
- Associate’s degree.
- Experience with hazardous materials or high‑energy events.
- Small arms handling, modification, armoring, or gunsmithing.
- Experience in welding, fabrication, woodworking, plumbing, electronics, power tools, or forklift operation.
