Airbus Commercial Aircraft - Supervisor of In service Repair Certification

Location:

Mobile, AL - Mobile Engineering Center (on site 60% / remote 40%)

Job Description

Report to the Head of Airworthiness & Quality to ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable EASA and FAA requirements. Manage a team of In service Repair Certification engineers within Airbus Americas Engineering and support the integration of engineering reporting, accountability and certification activities onto the AA region and back to Europe.

The Mobile Engineering Center supports the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations and services.

Your Challenges
  • People & Team Management (50%)
    • Oversee day to day activities, task assignment, scheduling and team performance
    • Ensure teams deliver on schedule, cost and quality
    • Allocate resources including personnel, equipment and budget
    • Identify training needs and facilitate professional development
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback
    • Facilitate communication within the team and with stakeholders
    • Serve on the Airbus Americas Engineering management team
    • Support EASA and internal DOA audits
    • Regularly meet with Airworthiness counterparts in Europe
    • Act as focal point for repair design assurance within the airworthiness function
    • Develop and support strategic projects related to in service repair certification
    • Work closely with Worldwide Airworthiness groups for Aircraft Repairs (1IA) maintaining all service level agreements
  • Technical & Managing Certification (45%)
    • Lead airworthiness approvals of Airbus products and changes with certifying authorities
    • Manage multi ATA, multi program workloads in line with customer expectations and certification requirements
    • Ensure consistency in global certification processes ("Speak One Voice")
    • Consult and challenge certification specialists on solutions for diverse in service configurations
    • Perform approvals in line with DOA privileges such as Repair & Design Approval Form (RDAF)
Your Boarding Pass
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or a relevant field
Preferred Education
  • Master's of Science degree in Engineering or a relevant field
Required Experience
  • 20+ years progressive experience in engineering programs for commercial transport aircraft
  • Progressive experience in airworthiness certification, product development, major modifications and return to service of fleet aircraft
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in a complex, matrix organization
Travel Required
  • 15% domestic and international travel
Citizenship

Authorized to work in the US and possess required U.S. work authorization.

    Carry or lift up to 30 lbs (14 kg) several times a week

    Push/pull small office furniture and equipment as needed
  • Sitting:
    Sit for long periods in meetings and on a computer
  • Squatting/Kneeling:
    Squat or kneel a few times a month to retrieve items on low shelving
  • Standing:
    Stand daily for discussions in offices or on the production floor

    Travel independently on short notice; once a month
