Location: SPARK, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia

SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Data Center BMS Engineer is to manage (operationally) the data center’s BMS/EPMS/Automation infrastructure. Ability to collaborate with operations team to establish new infrastructure equipment standards and operational methods for the client’s data centers in KSA, and to ensure that existing standards are implemented.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hold primary responsibility for the management of data center BMS and EPMS equipment from the field devices, controllers, PLC’s, cabling, through to the application hardware and software.
  • Use of industry best practices to maintain 100% uptime.
  • Liaise with Operations Management team, facilities, IT teams, and procurement to ensure that all projects progress smoothly, on schedule, and within budget. These projects include new installations, operational changes, scheduled maintenance, and equipment upgrades.
  • Contribute to the creation of runbook documents such as SOP, EOP, MOP, SOO for the BMS and EPMS systems; regularly ensure these are kept up to date.
  • Manage contracts related to the BMS/EPMS infrastructure, liaise with legal on contracts, and work directly with contractors to ensure timely completion of all work.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and new technologies related to BMS/EPMS/Controls.
  • Contribute to design and site upgrades.
  • Support and help prepare the annual operations budget.
  • Liaise with third party vendors in the sourcing and pricing of spare parts for critical and non‑critical systems.
  • Be abreast of the tools availability and condition, including calibration.
  • Source and procure tools and equipment as and when necessary.
  • Be versed and practiced in change management, and RCA analysis.
  • Support the greater team in the customer implementation process.
  • Develop new best practices that will reduce unscheduled downtime, improve operations, reliability, safety, and energy efficiency.
  • Supervise daily checks of HVAC, BMS and EPMS systems.
  • Supervise and manage the BMS operator team on a daily basis.
  • Authorise and oversee site preventative maintenance works and ensure the program is adhered to.
  • Collect and analyse data on various systems, maintain historical records, and provide management with statistical analysis as requested.
  • Monitor and adjust BMS to maintain optimal operating and environmental conditions.
  • Work collaboratively with the local campus facilities engineers and IT teams.
  • Responding to scheduled and unscheduled outages.
  • Take independent action during emergencies.
  • Maintain records on all work performed, contracts, and equipment.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelors degree Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Have a good understanding of PUE and DCIE, and how this affects the data center efficiency.
  • Strong technical understanding of integration to third party systems and HVAC plant and applications.
  • Have a strong understanding and knowledge of working within control panels for testing and fault finding on BMS control systems and associated control devices.
  • Familiarity with datacenter guidelines and standards especially Tier III design standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office environment including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires 5-7 years’ experience on complex data center BMS/EPMS systems.
