What You Will Do- Design, analyze (including thermal considerations), simulate, and test power conversion circuitry potentially utilizing any standard non-isolated power conversion topologies (buck, boost, buck‑boost) including modules and discrete designs.
- Guide ECAD personnel through PWB layout of power circuitry and technical drawing creation.
- Perform design work within the bounds of a given schedule.
- Present reviews of technical data to program leadership and technical staff.
- Typically requires a degree in STEM and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in design, analysis, simulation, and/or test experience with linear converters.
- Experience with any of the following non-isolated converter topologies: buck, boost, buck‑boost.
- Experience with design, analysis, and test with analog electronic design and analysis, including FET, BJT, and/or Op‑amp circuits.
- Lab experience specific to power electronics and/or controls electronics.
- Demonstrated use of software tools for electrical circuit simulation and/or printed circuit board layout.
- Demonstrated ability to document designs and circuit performance verification.
- Demonstrated experience with fundamental power conversion concepts, components, and techniques.
- Demonstrated understanding of linear controls and motor drive techniques.
- Basic understanding of commonly used power converter and/or motor drive control schemes.
- Design, analysis, and/or test experience with any of the following isolated converter topologies: flyback, half‑bridge, full‑bridge, and/or push‑pull. Design scope will ideally include stability.
- Experience with performing circuit card assembly‑level power architecture trades, and/or with system‑level power architecture trades, including power converter specification development experience.
- Professional experience guiding ECAD personnel through PWB layout of power circuitry and technical drawing creation.
- Familiarity with circuit simulator SIMPLIS, Saber, and/or analysis tool Mathcad.
- Experience with Mentor Graphics DXDesigner, and/or Hyperlynx.
- Experience with acting as a liaison between program and functional management.
- Experience with digital power control.
- Experience with military specifications.
- Experience with transformer and inductor design considerations.
Design experience with Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) concerns. - Design experience with voltages > 400 V and/or power > 10 kW.
- Experience with program management tools such as Earned Value.
- Experience with proposal development.
- Ability to design to meet concerns of adjacent disciplines, such as thermal, structural, mechanical, reliability, and quality.
- Self‑starter ability and ability to function in a dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, and time management skills.
Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD.
