OverviewRaytheon’s Surface Radars and Sensors Center in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support Digital Radar test activities. The role involves planning and executing radar test events, analyzing radar data, and developing verification strategies for advanced radar capabilities across HWIL, SIL, and field environments.
What You Will Do- Generate, run, and interpret modeling and simulation scenarios to predict radar performance and validate algorithm updates.
- Support real‑time and near‑real‑time field analysis during test events.
- Collaborate with group leads, cross‑discipline engineers, program leadership, and government stakeholders.
- Produce technically rigorous analysis reports, performance assessments, and presentation materials for internal and external briefings.
- Contribute to technical reviews such as peer reviews, gate reviews, and test readiness reviews.
- Support engineering activities, including systems validation, algorithm performance assessment, and test‑event reconstruction.
- Plan Ground Test and Flight Test events by defining data‑collection requirements and coordinating readiness with integration and test teams.
- Ensure compliance with engineering processes, quality standards, and government test requirements.
- Domestic travel is expected, approximately 15‑25% of the time.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with radar waveforms, radar beamforming, and/or signal processing.
- Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, and/or other programming languages.
- Experience with system integration, verification, validation, and/or testing.
- Experience with technical and/or functional leadership.
- Experience supporting radar Flight Test planning, execution, or post‑test data analysis.
- Experience in test, integration, or V&V of Missile Defense System, Army, or Navy sensors.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary systems engineering teams.
- Experience interfacing with internal or external customers, providing technical solutions, analyzing radar data, and generating documentation.
- Experience developing verification/validation strategies for advanced radar capabilities and software builds.
