Meteorological Observer

Overview

To perform meteorological observations and data readings of various observational devices on a regular and preset schedules in order to prepare a database of information to be provided to the Supervisor

• Policies, Processes and Procedures
• Follows all relevant section policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
• Day- to-day operations
• Follows the day-to-day operations related to own jobs in the Meteorological Observation Section to ensure continuity of work
• Meter Readings
• Conducts meter readings of various observational equipment on preset schedules and regular intervals to ensure that all readings are properly recorded and filed
• Calculations
• Performs simple calculations on weather data and device readings following a set standard of formulas and uploads this to a database in order to have a reference for future use
• Documentations
• Receives faxed information from government institutions regarding weather forecasts in order to provide the Supervisor relevant data
• Equipment Calibration
• Conducts simple calibration activities on observational equipment to ensure that they are properly maintained and in good running condition
• Plotting Data
• Provides administrative assistance to the Supervisor in plotting weather data in order to analyze current atmospheric situations
• Information Dissemination
• Send relative data and information to all related and concerned departments in order to relay all needed information
• Safety, Health & Environment
• Complies with all relevant safety, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment
• Related Assignments
• Performs other related duties or assignments as directed
