Job Description Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Rework Electrics Technician to join our X-Plant department based in Mobile, AL.
FAL X-Plant Technicians are tasked with actively participating in preparation for and operational execution of outstanding work from minor rework through to complex rework and repair activities within their skills and qualification profile (Electrical & Mechanical, Structures & Mechanical). This work is carried out throughout the FAL and Flight line phases. They are responsible for non standard work in Mobile FAL which includes, but is not limited to, outstanding work from Europe Plant Partners, non conformities and snag sheets raised during standard FAL activities, customer findings recorded in the Quality Log Book, and Technical Log Book write ups during Flight Line and Delivery Phases.
High level of skill and flexibility is required to ensure FAL and Flight Line milestones are achieved while operating at the highest level of safety, quality, cost, and schedule adherence.
Technicians will be trained and qualified to work across multiple competencies to provide optimum support to Mobile FAL and Flight Line Operations. They coach, train and mentor FAL & X Plant team members to further enhance Airbus production system knowledge, skills and development. They act as a trainer for new processes and initiatives and are bastions of safety and quality within the team.
A high degree of work schedule flexibility and autonomy is needed, including shifts and weekend working. After a learning and training period, they become a Delegated Inspector and hold privileges in multiple Airbus Plant and supplier systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform non standard work including electrical system rework, wire changes, harness changes, electrical bonding, crimping, pinning, splicing, systems exchanges, component/equipment changes, painting, sealing, and troubleshooting.
- Perform Self Inspections in line with qualification profile and work order requirements.
- Perform Delegated Inspections in line with qualification profile, inspection planning and work order requirements.
- Work autonomously and self directed to secure milestones for Mobile FAL and Flight Line.
- Work in compliance with production orders, design documents, concessions, and inspection procedures.
- Work with engineering support to define rework or repair solutions and review all work orders, drawings, instructions, and procedures.
- Assist FAL Operations with standard activities performed out of station occasionally.
- Coordinate with various FAL functions to safely and securely access aircraft for non standard work.
- Isolate limited systems to safely perform non standard work.
- Perform work in non standard areas such as at height, confined space, and wet tank entry while following all safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Document tasks in accordance with Airbus procedures and specifications.
- Use a variety of standard and specialized hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices, and test equipment, and jigs/fixtures with associated licenses, such as overhead crane, cherry picker, scissor lift, forklift, lifting platform, etc.
- Prepare for complex rework/repairs as a key part of the Working Party MFT.
- Embody complex rework/repair solutions in accordance with defined engineering dossier and planning.
- Identify risks and help mitigate through Working Party planning and review routines.
- Contribute to planning adaptation within the MFT.
- Support and guide station setup to ensure safe working conditions throughout complex rework/repair Working Party for people and aircraft.
- Actively contribute and lead continuous improvement and problem solving actions linked to the complex rework/repair.
- Perform on the job training, coaching and actively participate in the development of the X Plant and FAL teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Contribute to the growth of the X Plant Multi Functional Team by training other team members and being trained across multiple competencies.
- Maintain personal development record for work performed.
- Actively participate in development and continuous improvement of A320 Family Aircraft Assembly and Testing using Airbus Operating System tools.
- Participate in process improvement, root cause analysis, 5S, and all applicable tools to improve workload, quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Promote and have an active role in specific Airbus procedures such as Foreign Object Debris Procedure (FOD), OEM standards, plant and constituent assembly service level agreements and processes, tool control.
- Follow and encourage safety by using applicable PPE and exceeding safety requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness of X Plant shop including free stock bins, consumable locations, and work areas.
- Participate in daily SQCDP talks to discuss daily activity and priorities.
- Sign off work in a timely manner within specified work orders, non conformities, and SAP systems.
