To board and pilot oil tankers calling at Khafji port for loading and unloading in accordance with berthing and loading schedules, and decides, jointly with Supervisor, the time of berthing and unberthing according to weather and sea conditions to ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with KJO’s safety programs.
Skills Policies, Processes and Procedures- Applies approved section policies, processes, and procedures and monitors adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner.
- Applies the day‑to‑day operations assigned for the Mooring Section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures.
- Boards oil tankers calling at Khafji port at anchorage area, as designated by Supervisor, and pilots the tankers to assigned berth to ensure full control of the tanker before berthing.
- Ascertains the ship's ballast condition immediately after boarding, and advises the Master on the time of deballasting in order to ensure good response, performance and maneuverability of the vessel.
- Maintains complete control of all berthing and loading operations conducted on board and around the tanker to ensure adherence with established procedures and practices.
- Supervises and directs the work of Terminal Operations and Inspection personnel during the berthing, loading and unberthing, and ensures smooth coordination between the Company's personnel and ships' crew, for the purpose of quick and safe operation.
- Pilots the tankers for unberthing after completion of loading activities to ensure adherence to safety rules.
- Performs routine checks of hoses, berths, manifold, connections etc., prior to boarding incoming tankers to ensure that loading facilities and equipment are in proper and safe working order.
- Obtains onshore figures of quantity and quality of oil loaded by radio through shipping section, and checks such figures against Ships figures to ensure that all figures tallies with each other and make necessary notes when variances occur.
- Checks all documents prepared by shipping section, signs documents on behalf of the Company, and requests concerned people on board to sign them to ensure all documents are certified and agreed with both parties.
- Reports immediately to Supervisor any fault or defect discovered in the terminal and loading facilities and equipment used during the berthing and loading operations, and assists and cooperates with Facilities Maintenance personnel for their maintenance and repair, as instructed by Supervisor.
- Prepares section reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet Company and section requirements, policies and standards.
- Complies with all relevant safety, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
- Performs other related duties or assignments as directed.
