Position Description

This position is accountable for overseeing the scheduling, production, material flow and quality of product. The supervisor is responsible for administering organizational policies and procedures at the department level and for supervising daily assembly operations and establishing work priorities to meet internal and external customer commitments. Incumbent will establish shift objectives to support the division’s goals and objectives and review this performance plan.

The line supervisor is responsible for ensuring customer product meet or exceed quality standards and initiate actions necessary to maintain standards.

Responsibilities for Assembly Operations Supervisor

  • Support organizational goals through safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Coach and mentor non-exempt production employees to ensure operating at a level consistent with our customer’s needs and Pinnacle’s quality standards.
  • Evaluate labor and assembly capacity to accommodate customer demand and making changes if necessary.
  • Establish an environment of employee recognition, accountability, and responsibility in support of organizational goals.
  • Consistent review of labor/assembly line utilization to optimize productivity and manage cost.
  • Work directly with the Assembly Manager to improve manufacturing processes to accommodate fluctuations in demand.
  • Partner with Assembly Manager to create and report on assembly metrics.
  • Responsible for performing to established targets on developed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Promotes a safe culture, the implementation of safe work practices, and involvement in the safety committee ensuring safety of employees and visitors within company
  • Monitors work area and employees’ performance for adherence to safety procedures, work restrictions, cleanliness and potential hazards
  • Implements and monitors continuous quality improvement activities including waste and cost reduction, equipment and tool efficiencies and labor planning
  • Ensures production methods result in quality products; assists in root cause and corrective action activities in partnership with manufacturing engineer and assembly manager.
  • Partner with Sales Planner to plan and assemble on-time delivery of product by building to forecast in Sauk Rapids facility. Ensure capacity, labor and production plans are in alignment with customer demand to meet lead time requirements. Maintain planning spreadsheet.
  • Answer lead time requests from internal customers.
  • Performs performance management of direct reports; sets clear expectations and drives adherence; develops and cultivates talent

Qualifications and Skills for Assembly Operations Supervisor

  • Two-year technical degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience;
    Bachelor’s degree desirable
  • 5 years’ work experience in assembly or manufacturing supervision.
  • Customer Focus – Maintaining awareness of and seeking to meet of the needs and wants of the customer
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Leadership Orientation – Actively seeks ways in which to act as a role model, guide, develop and mentor others within the Operations Department
