Construction Superintendent – Plants Area  Reporting to the Surface Plants Area Construction Manager, the Construction Superintendent will be involved with the procurement, construction and commissioning of all facilities associated with the Plants area complexes. The Construction Superintendent will oversee and coordinate teams, including internal engineering and construction personnel, consultants, and contractors to ensure safe and efficient execution of site construction activities.

This includes planning, preparation, and day-to-day management of construction operations, ensuring all project milestones are met in accordance with schedule, budget, and quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities   Plan, organize, direct, and oversee all aspects of construction projects, ensuring alignment with schedules, budgets, and technical specifications.
Collaborate with the Construction Manager to establish project goals, execution strategies, and safety priorities.
Providing project leadership, safety leadership and facilitation of the site construction team.
Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, legislative requirements, and site-specific procedures.
Participate by reviewing and approving JHAs, procedures and work plans to safely execute all work.
Ensure the highest standards of housekeeping are always maintained.
Ensure excellent communications are always carried out by communicating effectively with trades people and technical personnel.
Participation in the development of construction RFP packages and subsequent award decisions.
Tracking of all owner-supplied construction materials.
Monitoring contractor’s daily labour, equipment, and material usage
Establish effective working relationships with field staff and subcontractors to foster collaboration and high morale.
Collaborate with field engineers, estimators, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure construction aligns with drawings, specifications, and owner’s expectations.
Address and resolve design deficiencies, schedule interruptions, and site challenges promptly.
Administer contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders to ensure terms and conditions are met, while managing change notices effectively.
Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and scope of work.
Conduct inspections to verify the quality of workmanship and materials, addressing any deficiencies immediately.
Monitor manpower and resource allocation to ensure the project meets safety, schedule, and quality objectives.
Maintain strong communication with consultants, trades, and internal teams, addressing concerns and providing updates on project progress.
Lead site meetings to align all stakeholders on project goals, timelines, and responsibilities
Qualifications   Strong understanding of safety and environmental regulations, productivity benchmarks, and labour relations.
Extensive experience in heavy industry construction and commissioning.
A minimum of 10 years progressive experience in a field supervision role within large-scale construction projects.
Proven ability to effectively lead construction teams, manage contractors, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
Experience in mine site operations, is an asset, but not essential.
Demonstrated leadership ability, a high level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
This position is based at the Gold Mine site working on a rotation schedule of 7 days on site followed by 7 days at home (alternatively 14 days onsite followed by 14 days at home), subject to change as the project requires. Flights are available from Toronto, Sudbury and Rouyn
- Noranda, QC.
