WHAT

THE ROLE IS ALL ABOUT!

Reporting to the HSE Lead, the HSE Advisor will be responsible for providing health, safety, and environmental awareness and training on projects. The role will require a proactive approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of all site personnel while fostering a safety-first culture. This is a field-based position that will work on a rotational schedule where camp accommodations are provided.

This role will be based out of Northern Ontario and/or Northern Manitoba.

ESSENTIAL CONTRIBUTIONS WE NEED FROM YOU!
  • Provide guidance to site employees and contractors on company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the HSE team to develop, update, and improve procedures, safe work practices, and emergency response plans.
  • Conduct site inspections, orientations, audits, and safety meetings.
  • Work with HSE team to maintain and enhance the COR program.
  • Liaise with Workplace Health and Safety and the Ministry of Labour when required.
  • Lead investigations into incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Support safety training and awareness initiatives for employees.
  • Assist site supervisors with specialized training as needed.
  • Oversee the Occupational Health and Safety Committee on site, ensuring active participation and compliance.
  • Complete Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and Risk Registers, providing coaching and evaluation of the hazard assessment process.
  • Manage the site's emergency response plan, ensuring preparedness for any potential incidents.
  • Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly safety record statistics for the job site.
  • Prepare and submit required daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s Health and Safety Program, promoting a culture of safety across the site.
  • Ensure adherence to all SNL policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

  • Experience in a construction safety position or equivalent is required.
  • NCSO certificate is required.
  • Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or Safety Officer Certificate is required.
  • Ability to positively confront individuals and upkeep professionalism while enforcing safety regulations and concerns.
  • Established knowledge of best management practices for minimizing potential safety and health impacts during project execution.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality with critical and sensitive information.
  • Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills are required.
  • Ability to understand the importance of team success vs. personal success and promote collaboration and teamwork, reflecting company values.
  • Prioritizes attention to detail and professionalism during all aspects of the role.
  • The ability to promote and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in an effective and professional manner.
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, and the ability to manage and resolve conflicts in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, always changing environment, which requires critical thinking and last-minute priority adjustments.
  • Must be able to travel to projects sites via small airplanes etc.
  • Must be able to present a clear security clearance check prior to commencing employment.
  • Must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
