Sand Truck Operator – Eagle River Mine, Near Wawa, ON (Mine Site)

The mine is located a short drive from Wawa, deep in the forest where it is scenic and quiet. It is a real ‘boots on the ground’ setting.

Team members reside in a camp environment and typically work on rotations, depending on the position. The camp offers excellent food, a sauna/gym, recreational room and the opportunity to stay connected with family and friends.

Hourly Rate: $42.35

The successful candidate will be responsible for snow and ice removal, sanding, material hauling, dust control, and general haul road maintenance. The Sand Truck Operator will also support road construction, rehabilitation, drainage, reclamation, and material movement activities across the site while working closely with other heavy equipment operators and site personnel. This is a hands‑on position requiring a strong commitment to safety, equipment care, and maintaining safe road conditions in a dynamic mining environment.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions and responding to changing site and operational requirements.

• Operate a Kenworth T880 equipped with front plow, wing plow, and sanding systems
• Remove snow and ice from haul roads, pit access roads, parking areas, fuel stations and site infrastructure
• Apply sand and traction materials to haul roads, ramps, intersections, and high-risk travel areas
• Monitor road conditions and identify hazards including drifting snow, icy surfaces, reduced visibility, and shoulder deterioration
• Maintain safe road widths and visibility of berms, signage, and traffic controls
• Operate the T880 truck for hauling gravel, sand, aggregate, ore, waste rock, and other site materials as required
• Assist with road construction, road rehabilitation, and haul road maintenance projects
• Perform dust control activities on haul roads and work areas
• Transport materials for road building, drainage, and reclamation projects
• Assist graders, excavators, dozers, and loaders during road maintenance and construction activities
• Support stockpile management and material movement throughout the mine site
• Perform general labour and site support duties as assigned by supervision
• Conduct pre-operational and post-operational inspections of equipment
• Complete logbooks, inspection reports, and safety documentation
• Report equipment defects, road hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses
• Perform basic servicing, fueling, lubrication, and housekeeping of assigned equipment
• Follow all mine-site policies, procedures and safety regulations

• Valid Class AZ Driver’s License
• 3-5 years of heavy equipment operator training, sand truck operation and/or relevant experience
• Experience operating heavy trucks in mining, construction, forestry or industrial environments
• Experience hauling aggregate, ore, gravel, sand, or similar materials considered an asset
• Knowledge of winter road maintenance and snow removal practices
