Overview Supply Preschool Educator position at THRIVE Child Development Centre (H.S. McLellan Preschool). THRIVE is a non-profit organization dedicated to safe, inclusive and healthy early childhood development. The program is open Monday-Friday with hours between 7:30am and 5:30pm.
Responsibilities Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of all children in the program.
Implement the four foundations for learning as outlined in the How Does Learning Happen? document into program planning and development.
Ensure children are provided with nutritious food that promotes good nutrition, dental health and awareness of special diets and allergies.
Maintain a clean, safe and well-maintained program and facility; include cleaning and disinfecting of toys, equipment and furniture.
Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities.
Plan and provide schedules for indoor and outdoor activities.
Develop and implement a curriculum reflecting current best practices and applicable early childhood documents.
Supervise children at all times and maintain child/staff ratios per the Child Care and Early Years Act.
Support and follow THRIVE and HS McLellan Mission, Vision Statements and Values.
Follow the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the College of Early Childhood Educators / Association of Early Childhood Education.
Maintain a professional approach with parents, staff, visitors and school personnel where applicable.
Be familiar with and respond to emergency procedures.
Qualifications Diploma in Early Childhood Education (or working towards), or Diploma in Child and Youth Work or Child and Youth Care with relevant daycare experience.
Related field qualifications may be considered; please email to inquire if your Diploma/Degree would be considered.
Registered with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators, or registration in process.
Experience with in a daycare or school setting.
Excellent knowledge of current Child Development Theories and Practices, Early Identification and Intervention and relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
Knowledge in Observation and Documentation, curriculum planning.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective written planning, organizational and time management skills.
Understanding of cultural environment and inclusion.
Team building and leadership skills with the ability to motivate others.
Respectful, compassionate, understanding, patient and honest.
Current Standard First Aid Certificate and Infant/Child CPR.
Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
Current immunization records.
