Permanent Full‑Time | Salary: $1,213.06 – $1,484.47 per week
* About the Job Provide rehabilitative services to offenders to assist in their adjustment upon returning to the community. Facilitate and deliver rehabilitative programming, coordinate resources, and support offenders’ progress within the treatment centre.
Organize resources to effectively deliver programs as a sole facilitator, marketing the program to offenders.
Enroll offenders to participate in programs and ensure that physical resources are in place.
Write case notes and input program tracking reports in Offender Tracking Information System (OTIS) within the appropriate timeframe.
Submit statistical information to the Deputy Superintendent, Treatment.
Complete classifications of offenders.
Gather information for and prepare Temporary Absence Permits.
Assist in the scheduling/coordination of fee‑for‑service providers.
Interview and respond to offender requests.
Facilitate referrals to assist in discharge planning.
Participate in meetings and committees.
Assist in the orientation, training and supervision of new staff, volunteers and students.
Provide information, write reports, and advise senior management.
Other duties as required.
Note:
This position requires working some evening and weekend shifts based on operational requirements and schedule.
Required Skills Specialized Knowledge and Experience Knowledge of group facilitation, theories, and skills normally acquired through post‑secondary education in social sciences (e.g., criminology, sociology, law, psychology, social work, or a related field) to effectively facilitate, instruct, and deliver rehabilitative programs for inmates.
Experience working with community agencies to assist in discharge planning.
Understanding of the justice system and court processes/documentation.
Knowledge of programs and strategies focusing on criminogenic risk factors and risk/needs assessment as it relates to programs such as the Temporary Absence Program, Intermittent Community Work Program and offender work programs.
Proficient with computers to input/retrieve offender data from information systems and databases, and to prepare and maintain reports and statistics.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills Ability to work with and provide services/programming to offenders.
Demonstrated interviewing techniques to assess offender needs, motivation, and suitability for placements.
Skill to liaise with multi‑disciplinary professionals and correctional staff.
Analytical, Investigative, and Evaluative Skills Capability to obtain information and make recommendations based on established criteria.
Ability to assess suitability of offenders for participation in various rehabilitative programs.
Effective organization and prioritization to complete work in a timely fashion and manage the coordination/scheduling of programs.
Understanding and application of relevant legislation such as the Ministry of Correctional Services Act.
