Winter Casual Operator, Highway Maintenance

Rates & Premiums

• Base hourly rate: $25.00/hour
• Operators will be eligible to receive premiums starting at $5/hour when performing winter maintenance operations

• Must be located within 30 minutes of the shop due to the location of the work
• On-call including night shifts may be required as we respond to various weather patterns
• This is an on-call, weather dependent position with no guaranteed hours in a week
• CLAC union position

• Operate snowplow trucks, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment as required
• Maintain Ontario Provincial Highways year-round, including assisting with labourer duties (pothole repair, guardrail repair, bridge and signage cleaning, hazard remediation, etc.)
• Work outside in all weather conditions

• Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50 lbs on a regular basis, bending, kneeling, crouching, etc.
• Valid AZ or DZ driver’s license with air endorsement
• Provide a copy of a 3-year commercial driver’s abstract
• Previous experience operating a snowplow truck and/or wheel loader is a strong asset
