- To provide informational and emergency situation support to the Department under the supervision of the Intelligence and Investigative Division. To serve as the primary point of contact for serious and emergency incident reporting and information disbursement. To act and report when needed as the incident command team during emergency or critical events as deemed by the Secretary.
- Collects, coordinates and disseminates emergency and serious incident information. Coordinates the collection of pertinent information related to the creation of serious incident reports (SRIs) and other incident reporting forms. Creates digital or written reports, lists and logs based on calls. Receives, reviews, and vets accordingly reports for events/items of significance that may affect Maryland public safety.
- Conducts analysis, evaluation, and coalition of serious incident data in order to make recommendations pertaining to the dissemination and creation of informative reports pertinent to open and ongoing investigations. Evaluates incoming data for the release of information for inner and outer department memorandums under the supervision of the Unit Manager. Acts as a liaison between multiple components within the Intelligence and Investigative Division.
Provides informational support to the detective, intelligence analysts and officers, and institutional correctional staff. - Provide timely feedback and dissemination to executive staff, inner and outer departmental agencies and units, as supervised by the Unit Manager. Delivers important information to officers/detectives in the field to assist with investigatory procedures. Establishes and monitors incident organization for the purpose of mainstreaming information as it is requested. Maintains important and confidential records.
- Coordinates requests for assistance from facility managers and operation centers. Responsible for expedient and effective monitoring of calls for assistance and incident report for the state wide reporting system. Receives allegations via telephone of criminal activity and allegations of serious misconduct by DPSCS employees, inmates, visitors, and others as directed by the Executive staff of IID. Determines pertinent information and the nature of the incident.
Determines priority and dispatch of IID resources and other emergency units as necessary. Operates computerized incident reporting communication telephone and incident recording equipment. - Responsible for the readiness and operation of the Departments State ICs unit on a twenty-four hour a day basis. Reports when activated to assist with emergency or critical events deemed pertinent by the Secretary. Acts as an informational manager in their incident command post, providing a central coordination point for informational gathering. Assists with information gathering and other functions during major incidents.
Assists in determining incident objectives and strategies in ensuring the safety of employees, inmates/detainees.
Education:
High School diploma or high school equivalency certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described in the Correctional Training Commission regulation.
