The Role and Why It's Important As the Coffee Lead at Hy-Vee, you'll help keep our Coffee Shop running smoothly while supporting the Department Manager and leading the barista team. You'll make sure every customer gets a fresh, high-quality product and a genuinely warm experience from the moment they walk up to the counter.

What You'll DoNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:

Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive oneTake customer orders at the counter and over the phone, and assist with finding products and answering questions

Ensure food is handled safely and the work area is always clean, neat, and up to department standards

Monitor product freshness and appearance throughout your shift and prepare and replenish product as needed

Anticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list to stay ahead

Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed

Run the department register and process payments where applicable

Instruct, assign, and coordinate work for Coffee Shop Baristas Order product and supplies as needed and price products for customers as necessary

Remove trash promptly and maintain a clean, organized department

Handle confidential information including sales percentages and employee wages with discretion

Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies

Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed

Deliver outstanding customer service and motivate your team to do the same Solve practical problems and make sound decisions with a variety of variables

Use basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages

Guide and support team members with clear direction and follow-through

High school diploma or equivalent required; food safety or sanitation courses encouraged; one year of similar or related experience preferred
