General PurposeThe Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring that customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers, treats fellow associates with respect, follows company best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate works in all areas of the store as business needs require, and may be requested to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.
EssentialFunctions
- Prioritize safety, maintain a clutter‑free sales floor, and report unsafe conditions.
- Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly “hello.”
- Assist customers – register‑trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably, and say “thank you” with each transaction.
- Respond promptly to customer requests and handle issues courteously, calling store leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the Ross brand and maintain a professional appearance.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high‑touch areas).
- Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and organized.
- Expedite new merchandise to the sales floor, merchandising per company best practice and presentation guidelines.
- Follow loss‑prevention, short‑age highway, and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follow Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock policies and handle disposals with store leadership approval.
- Process cash, check, charge‑card, and refund transactions accurately, maintaining awareness of bankable tenders.

- Basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail.
- Use all store equipment (PDTs, registers, PCs).
- Stand, walk and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
- Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds; stockroom shifts may require up to 20 pounds.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.

Compensation and BenefitsBase pay range: $17.00–$17.50 per hour. The range is one component of total compensation; other rewards vary by position and location.
