System - Switchboard/Customer Service Operations

The Guest Services Representative (GSR) serves as the ultimate customer service representative for the organization, setting a positive and welcoming tone to ensure a positive consumer experience. GSRs are responsible for assisting patients, families, and coworkers in connecting with their family members or the appropriate parties to address their issues. They assist with directions and general questions, monitor and address building emergencies such as fires, codes, safety alerts, and security calls, and serve as the overhead paging coordinators for daily announcements and doctor paging systems.

Other duties are assigned by the team lead.

Education

Associates Degree in Communication - Preferred
High School Diploma - Preferred

Experience

1 Year Switchboard Operator, Call Center, or Help Desk - Required

License & Certification

None Required

Core Job Functions

Monitor all clinical nursing codes and alert staff as necessary.

Receive and route calls, determine caller intent, and make appropriate connections. Ensure calls are answered promptly, follow phone courtesy protocols, and perform paging according to hospital procedures, utilizing approved scripting.

Monitor all plant operations fire and emergency alarms for all campuses and notify security when alarms are triggered.

Handle interactions diplomatically with physicians, management, clinical staff, patients, and the public under stressful conditions. Act decisively and remain calm and alert in critical situations, using good judgment in answering questions according to established policies.

Direct patients and visitors to correct locations and obtain assistance if needed, using information from the hospital information system. Adhere to HIPAA guidelines to protect patient confidentiality.
