Responsibilities- Teach several sections of ELA, English courses for upper school students.
- Developing lesson plans and curricula based on the needs of individual students.
- Utilize diverse instructional strategies to teach students both in small groups and one‑on‑one settings.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies that support consistent routines and student accountability.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design and development.
- Provide updates to parents about student progress, via both written reports and in‑person conferences.
- Design and administer assessments to measure student achievement and growth.
- Serve as an advisor for a group of students, offering support, mentorship, and guidance to help them thrive academically and personally.
- Participate in extracurricular responsibilities, including assisting with sports teams or monitoring student clubs and events.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Humanities, Education, or related required. Master's degree strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of English teaching experience preferred.
- Previous experience working with upper school students.
- Ability to teach full range of high school English courses.
- No teaching license or credential is required.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
- Detail‑oriented and resilient.
- A desire to be involved in extra‑curricular activities as well as the broader school community.
- Experience working in independent schools preferred, not required.
Compensation and benefit packages are competitive but will differ by school and will typically depend on geographic location, your experience, and your level of degree.
