- Level Roadway and Bridge Inspector – Savannah, GA – Low country, SC

With our continued growth, ICE is seeking certified Construction Inspectors to support vital transportation improvement projects – especially along the I‑95 corridor, one of the busiest routes in the Southeast, carrying nearly 70,000 vehicles per day through portions of Georgia and South Carolina.

The CE & I Inspector will monitor the work of contractors to ensure compliance with contract requirements, specifications, and quality standards for transportation projects of moderate to considerable complexity. In addition to inspection responsibilities, the inspector may be required to provide inspection/project management under the direction of a Project Manager.
Responsibilities- Provide daily observation of construction activities and document activities on required reports/forms.
- Review construction materials for contract and specification compliance.
- Inspect roadways and structures for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Evaluate structural materials, placement of culverts, and structural operations such as foundation excavation.
- Monitor placement of pilings, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete, and backfill.
- Verify lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using survey and field engineering equipment.
- Perform accurate calculations and computations.
- Sample and test construction materials to ensure they meet the quality requirements of the project specifications.
- Review contractor submittals for conformance to project documents and specifications.
- Document and immediately report any non‑compliance actions and safety violations to your immediate supervisor.
- Record Daily Work Reports to include quantities in Site Manager and for American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) projects.
- Above average math and problem‑solving skills are required.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new computer skills.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Fleet drivers must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
- Must complete a pre‑employment screening; ICE is a drug‑free workplace.
- HS diploma required or equivalent required.
- Associate or BS in Civil Engineering is a plus.
- Roadway and bridge inspection experience is required.
- GDOT and SCDOT experience is desired.
- Asphalt Roadway Technician, Earthwork and Base, Concrete Level 1 & 2, and ACI Field Concrete Technician certifications are required.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
The following certifications help ensure that CEI technicians comply with DOT, AASHTO, and ASTM standards for transportation infrastructure projects. ICE provides training for inspectors to obtain the following certifications and is invested in their professional growth.
- A minimum of five years of inspection experience is required.
- Three of the following certifications are required:
Asphalt Roadway Technician
, Earthwork Drainage & Base Technician
, Concrete Level 1 and Level 2,
ACI Concrete Field‑Testing Technician – Grade 1.
For positions involving field work, completion of OSHA 10 certification is required as a condition of employment. New hires without current certification must complete the training within two (2) weeks of hire. ICE will provide the training and cover associated costs.
