Position Summary:Dental Claim Support is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Credentialing Assistant to join our team as an independent contractor. Reporting to the Credentialing Specialist, you will provide vital support in managing and maintaining the credentialing and recredentialing processes for our clients. This role requires a high degree of accuracy, self-management, and the ability to meet deadlines while working independently.
How the Credentialing Assistant fits in:As an independent contractor, the Credentialing Assistant will contribute to ensuring that our clients are properly credentialed with insurance payers. By assisting the Credentialing Specialist, you will help maintain the efficiency and compliance of our revenue cycle management services, supporting the financial health and operational success of our clients.
In this role, you will:Credentialing Support:
- Assist in the preparation and submission of credentialing and recredentialing applications for dental providers.
- Monitor the status of applications and follow up as needed, maintaining open communication with the Credentialing Specialist.
- Accurately enter and maintain records of provider credentials in our database.
- Ensure all credentialing documentation is correctly filed and accessible for audits or client inquiries.
Competencies:
- Become familiar with insurance payer requirements and portals to assist in the credentialing process.
- Use credentialing software and databases to efficiently manage provider information and track the progress of applications.
- Submit accurate and complete documentation, adhering to deadlines and ensuring timely task completion.
- Work independently to manage multiple tasks and meet project timelines.
- Communicate with insurance payers, providers, and internal teams as needed, representing DCS professionally.
- Assist in maintaining positive relationships with external partners to support the credentialing process.
- Manage your workload effectively, demonstrating the ability to work independently while meeting expectations.
- Seek opportunities to learn and grow in the field of healthcare credentialing.
- Assist in identifying and resolving issues related to credentialing, working efficiently to minimize disruptions to client services.
- Implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of credentialing tasks.
- Provide exceptional service to clients, ensuring that inquiries are addressed promptly and accurately.
- Take responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of credentialing records.
Timely Credentialing Support:
- Complete all credentialing tasks within the required time frames. Applications gathered, filled out, and sent to provider for signature - 15 days
- Follow-up with Provider (if signatures not obtained) - 10 days
- Submit signed applications to payers - 2 days
- Follow up with payer after submission - 10 days
- Continued follow up with payer until Effective Date provided - 10 days
- No more than one consecutive email to payer for follow-up.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy with an error rate of less than 2%.
- Ensure compliance with payer and regulatory requirements in all credentialing activities.
- Contribute to a client satisfaction score of 90% or higher, based on feedback related to the credentialing process.
- 1+ year of experience in an administrative support role, preferably within a healthcare or dental setting.
- Experience working as an independent contractor is preferred.
- Familiarity with working with independent contractors on a global scale.
- High School diploma or GED; some college coursework is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.); experience with credentialing software is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
