Telecom Field Technician / Site-to-Site Travel Required
Optomi is seeking motivated, technically minded, and eager-to-learn individuals to support the deployment and maintenance of commercial telecom networks. This is not your average desk job — you’ll be the hands, eyes, and ears on the ground, overseeing and maintaining the health of the network in your assigned region while interfacing with vendors, performing hands-on installs, and acting as an operational extension of the engineering team.
We’re not just looking for skills. We’re looking for attitude and aptitude. If you’re coachable, dependable, and excited to grow in the telecom space, you can be taught everything else.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Deploy and maintain network equipment in your assigned city/region
- Perform site surveys and assist with construction coordination and vendor interfacing
- Install and troubleshoot telecom hardware (rack-mounting gear, fiber runs, etc.)
- Monitor network health and respond to operational issues
- Serve as first-line construction oversight during active builds
- Document all work: what you did, why you did it, how it impacts the network
- Maintain accurate records of installations, configurations, and network statuses
- Conduct safety-conscious work at job sites (including active construction zones)
- Work primarily from home with field visits to local sites as needed
- Prepare data and coordinate with internal teams on future market builds
What We’re Looking For:
- Self-starters with strong attention to detail and time management
- Curious minds with the drive to learn and grow
- People who can wear multiple hats: field ops, vendor liaison, hands-on tech
- Individuals comfortable working outdoors and independently
- Solid documentation habits (critical!)
- Basic tooling (screwdrivers, hand tools) — advanced tools are provided
- Safe work habits and understanding of basic OSHA/site practices
Preferred (But Teachable) Skills:
- Telecom field experience (fiber, coax, etc.)
- Site survey and field documentation
- Basic troubleshooting / diagnostic skills
- Familiarity with Office 365 and standard productivity tools
- Understanding of safety regulations (OSHA knowledge a plus)
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Reliable transportation — local travel required within assigned city and surrounding areas
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to work outside and in field conditions
- Occasional customer-facing interaction required
Ready to get your hands dirty, learn quickly, and grow in the telecom world?
