Washroom Operator – Vestis Corporation Job Overview

Performs work as part of a team in an industrial laundry facility. Responsible for the safe, expeditious, and accurate handling of merchandise into and/or out of the laundry facility.

• Checks all machine safety devices before operating equipment and records and signs the appropriate equipment safety form. If a machine does not pass safety inspection, the operator will not operate the unit and will notify the supervisor.
• When loading a washer, retrieve the sling from storage and maneuver it to the washer’s rails in front of the washer. If loading a dryer, obtain an extracted sling from the overhead feed rail and verify each batch ticket to avoid mixing lots and batches.
• Stages similar batches together for maximum product‑wash utilization; positions washer/dryer in proper loading position (tilted up); removes the batch ticket, loads the washer/dryer by untying the bottom cord of the sling, forces the items into the washer/dryer cylinder, closes the doors, lowers the machine to the horizontal position, selects the appropriate formula, and starts the machine.
• Takes the batch ticket and records the ticket information on the washer/dryer form displayed by the machine; for a washer, enters the weight from the batch ticket into SOFTROL; for a dryer, re‑ties the sling and transports it to the hoist staging area.
• Unloads a washer: opens the door, tilts the washer forward, moves the lined cart with a clean sling, removes items from the washer into the cart, places batch tickets on top of items, moves the cart to the sling raise area, and tilts the washer back into position.
• Unloads a dryer: opens the front door, ensures items are at the proper moisture level (re‑drying if necessary), raises the front end, moves to the rear of the machine, opens the rear door, places the appropriate tub at the dryer opening, removes items from the dryer, places batch tickets on top of items, stores in the appropriate area, closes the rear door, and leaves the dryer in a tilted position to aid loading.
• Verifies proper moisture retention of items; ensures carts/tubs are not overloaded; confirms items are at the proper temperature; checks that all extracted slings are free of excess water; verifies all items are properly cooled; identifies any slings with rips or tears and removes them from the system.
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment and observes best practices in all production activities; performs other duties as assigned.

• Ability to understand all required training, written, and verbal instructions.

• Work is performed in a warehouse setting and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat and cold, dust, and noise.
• Work is based on a shift schedule and may include weekends; overtime is required as needed.
• Physical requirements:
  
  ability to move or maneuver slings or carriers weighing up to 220 lbs; move, lift, carry, push, or pull product weighing up to 50 lbs; bend, reach, pull, and press at shoulder level and below the waist; use hands for grasping and other manipulations; stand and walk for long periods.
