Oncology Protocol Registered Nurse

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for care coordination of oncology infusion patients by working with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that the patient is ready to begin treatment prior to arriving to the treatment clinic.
  • Conduct a comprehensive review of scheduled oncology infusion patients, preferably working out 72 hours in advance. This review facilitates continuity of care, including lab and test review, consent, provider orders, and monitoring authorizations.
  • Exhibit excellent communication, organization, multi‑tasking, and accurate electronic documentation related to patient care; openly communicate with patients/families for positive outcomes and follow up on complaints promptly.
  • Facilitate proactive communication within the multidisciplinary team, including managing physicians, precertification, and treatment facilities.
  • Address barriers to care by referring to supportive services for psychosocial, educational, transportation, or financial needs, and communicating any barriers to management.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Associates in Nursing - Required
  • Experience:

    1-2 Years Nursing - Required; 1-2 Years Case Management/Navigation - Preferred
  • License & Certification:
    Professional License with State of Practice - Required;
    Chemotherapy Biotherapy course - Required;
    Basic Life Support (BLS) - Preferred

  • Ensure barriers to care are identified and addressed through appropriate referrals and communication with management.
