Position SummaryThe Preventative Maintenance Technician (PM Tech) is responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance services on company-owned heavy equipment and fleet vehicles to ensure safe operation, reliability, and compliance with manufacturer and company standards. This role supports the Equipment Division by reducing downtime, identifying mechanical issues early, and maintaining accurate maintenance records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) services on heavy equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, fluid checks, and inspections
- Conduct basic mechanical inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential failures
- Document all maintenance activities accurately using company maintenance tracking systems
- Report identified mechanical issues to supervisors or mechanics for corrective action
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with company safety policies
- Follow manufacturer specifications, company SOPs, and safety guidelines at all times
- Assist senior technicians and mechanics as needed
- Perform basic troubleshooting within scope of training and certification
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–3 years of experience performing preventive maintenance on heavy equipment or fleet vehicles preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of diesel‑powered equipment
- Ability to read and follow maintenance schedules and service manuals
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and handle tools, parts, and equipment components
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, crawl, and climb on and around heavy equipment for extended periods
- Ability to work under, on top of, and around heavy machinery in shop and field environments
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm motions while using tools and performing maintenance tasks
- Ability to work in varying outdoor weather conditions and wear required PPE (steel‑toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection)
- Shop and field‑based environment
- Exposure to grease, oils, moving machinery, noise, and outdoor conditions
