• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products in the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to meet their needs.
• Use bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients using various utensils and equipment.
• Properly prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
• Check product quality for freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; report discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand the store layout and locate products when requested by customers.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads; gain knowledge of products and respond to questions with recommendations.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates; create a welcoming environment for customers.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance and notify appropriate management of items in need of repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents; work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment; manage conflicts professionally.
• Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues; provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
• Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
