Job Description

Qnity, a global leader in materials and solutions for advanced electronics, is seeking an Environmental Specialist to support its manufacturing site in Parlin, New Jersey. The successful candidate will provide technical support within the Mid‑Atlantic Hub, ensuring environmental compliance and driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical expert on air pollution control, water and waste infrastructure, and emissions.
  • Prepare air permit applications, renewals, and modifications.
  • Develop air dispersion modeling using regulator‑approved programs.
  • Interpret local, state, and federal air regulations and implement compliance programs, inspections, and guidance documents.
  • Verify emission calculations for routine, maintenance, startup, and shutdown emissions.
  • Maintain accurate compliance reports and records.
  • Provide technical guidance and best practices to departments regarding the air compliance program.
  • Monitor and report air compliance metrics to site leadership.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations during facility design and installation to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Build relationships with regulatory bodies, laboratories, and service providers for the regulatory compliance program.
  • Work with Qnity environmental specialists and industrial hygienists to implement and maintain policies and procedures to comply with health and environmental laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Host regulatory agency site visits and inspections.
  • Drive incident investigations to identify root cause and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Conduct internal 1st‑party audits and field environmental assessments to ensure compliance with company standards and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop and deliver professional meeting presentations to stakeholders, including regulators and other officials.
  • Be a visual presence on the production floor and provide counsel, advice, and support to other functions on all safety, health, and environmental matters.
  • Ensure compliance with company and site policies.
  • Support the management of change (MOC) process as a change owner and subject‑matter specialist.
  • Conduct facility training sessions related to Air, Water and Waste regulations to ensure compliance and enhanced awareness.
  • Support Environmental EMS/ISO, DPCC, SPCC & RCMS Programs as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related accredited technical program.
  • Minimum 7 years of applicable experience in air pollution permitting, compliance, multimedia environmental audits, and environmental management systems (preferred experience in New Jersey).
  • Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience.
  • Superior technical writing abilities.
  • Expert knowledge of Federal, State, and Local air regulations, including Clean Air Act, NESHAP, Title V, Title VI, and ODS.
  • Experience in air quality dispersion models and project management.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with contractors, co‑workers, and other professionals.
  • Ability to present complex information clearly to all levels of employees, management, and regulators.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related software.
