Position: Welding Supervisor - Days
Supervision of welding department activities ranging from production, continuous improvement of welding activities, and overseeing staff (fitters, welders, etc.)Ensure operation activities are accomplished at or above budgeted efficiencyEnsure implementation of and compliance to the quality program – reducing waste by identifying problems and implementing corrective measuresResponsible for meeting written housekeeping standards in assigned area and reinforce the importance of keep working area clean and organizedEnsure departmental cost expenditure is effectiveHire, evaluate, and discipline/terminate employees (as needed)Ensure employees are trained properly to perform their tasksDevelop / maintain positive relationships with suppliers and customersWork closely with internal Customer Service Rep, Scheduler, Sales person, and Product Development Engineer as needed towards goal of delivering quality product on time to customersEnsure implementation of and compliance to OHSA, Fire Code, safety code and internal regulations and policiesAttend any injury / loss / incident investigation in the departmentEnsure PPE is worn when requiredAssist in orientation of new employees to the department and that people are properly trained to do the tasks assigned to them on an ongoing basisContinue to improve personal capabilities by reading relevant business and technical literature, attending seminars, training courses, etc.Perform duties in a timely mannerWelding Inspection
CWB Welding Supervisor CertificateCWB Welding Inspector Level 1 Certificate an asset6G TSSA Pipe Welding Certification an asset1G TSSA Structural Welding Certification an assetSupervisor training an assetUnderstanding of CSA W47.1, MIG, TIG3 years+ experience in welding / fabrication environment3 years+ experience in a manufacturing supervisory positionExperience with TSSA / CWB welding ticketsAbility to interpret weld symbols and nomenclatureAbility to interpret manufacturing drawings, piping and instrumentation drawings, general arrangement drawings and pipe drawingsAbility to inspect welds to make sure they comply to codes and standards, looking at weld sizes, weld finish and checking for cracks, overlap, undercut and/or splatterAble to multi-task and prioritize workloadsAbility to use an overhead crane – must haveAbility to drive a forklift an assetGood attendance record
