Child Care Counselor (Before School Care Program)

Join the Town of Scarborough’s Community Services Department as a Child Care Counselor in our Before School Care Program for the 2025/26 school year.

• Locations: Eight Corners, Blue Point School, Pleasant Hill School, Wentworth School
• Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–8:30 a.m.
• Pay: $16.00–$18.00 per hour plus $2.00 shift differential

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct supervision and care for children in a school facility setting.
• Observe and monitor children’s activities to ensure safety and security.
• Organize and participate in developmental and age‑appropriate activities for K‑5.
• Maintain accurate documentation (incident reports, time cards).
• Attend required meetings and training sessions.

Requirements:

• At least 16 years of age.
• Prior experience working with children.
• First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to be trained.
• Strong alertness, problem‑anticipation, and ability to handle disruptive behavior positively.
• Effective communication with children, parents, and staff.
• Dependable, reliable, and able to adhere to a set schedule.
