Audio Typist/Admin SupportClosing date: 24 June 2026
An opportunity for an Audio Typist/Admin Support position within the Rheumatology Department at Scarborough Hospital. The role requires an individual capable of working independently and as part of a team.
Main duties of the job- Audio typing of outpatient clinic, discharge and other administrative letters.
- Communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy, overcoming barriers to communication via email, telephone, reception duties, etc.
- Filing, photocopying and other administrative tasks as required.
- Provide typing and administrative support to medical secretaries within the Directorate.
- Deal with routine internal telephone queries.
- Respond in a professional and sensitive manner when dealing with confidential issues.
- Administrative support including appointment booking and general tasks.
- Prioritise own workload and coordinate related activities and duties.
- GCSE English Language, Grade C or above (or equivalent).
- Typing and Word processing skills OCR II (or equivalent e.g. RSA II).
- Previous clerical/administrative experience.
- Experience using a variety of IT applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Experience working in a customer‑focused environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proficient audio typist able to transcribe complex audio accurately.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to new demands.
