We are working with a welcoming and well‑established secondary school in Scarborough that is committed to providing a positive, supportive environment for both pupils and staff. The school is seeking to appoint a professional and organised Receptionist to join its administration team on a maternity cover contract, starting in September.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator or receptionist who enjoys working in a busy, people‑focused environment and takes pride in delivering a professional and friendly front‑of‑house service. As the first point of contact for visitors, parents, pupils and staff, you will play a key role in supporting the day‑to‑day operation of the school office.
The successful candidate will be organised, approachable and able to manage a varied workload whilst maintaining confidentiality and providing excellent customer service. Previous experience in a reception or administrative role is essential, and experience within a school environment would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the first point of contact for visitors, telephone and email enquiries
- Provide a welcoming and professional reception service
- Support the school with a range of administrative and clerical duties
- Maintain accurate pupil and staff records
- Assist with diary management and general office administration
- Support colleagues with administrative queries
- Monitor office supplies and process orders where required
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding and data protection procedures
This is a full‑time, term‑time only maternity cover position, working Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, starting on 7th September 2026 for approximately nine months.
